Mr. Mohammed H. Aljahdali who is working as a teaching assistant at KAU, Faculty of Marine Science, department of Marine Geology and currently a postgraduate student at the Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, Florida State University, USA has been selected to participate on the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) as a member of the shipboard scientific team on the Expedition 340: Lesser Antilles Volcanism & Landslides. The expedition that scheduled on board R/V JOIDES Resolution will start on 6 February 2012 and end on 18 March 2012, is designed to drill volcanic landslides deposits and volcanoclastic sediments in the Lesser Antilles arc to study the implications for hazard assessment and long-term magmatic evolution of the arc.
